A Fairdale area dog was shot with an arrow and has died. Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) is investigating the horrible incident and is asking the public for help with finding the offender. A $500 reward is being offered by a nonprofit, Friends of Metro Animal Services, for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

The dog was found wandering the street with a 2-foot long arrow protruding from its hip in the 8900 block of Brown Austin Road in Fairdale, Louisville, Kentucky. The dog was a 2 year old Jack Russel terrier. It was brought in to the LMAS shelter around 5 pm on Wednesday. The dog died despite attempts to save it. It did not have a microchip on it and so its owner has not been located as yet.

If you know any information on the dog’s owner, or know who may be responsible for the injuries, you’re kindly asked to contact Louisville Metro Police at 574-5673.

Please share this widely and let’s try to find out who shot the dog and left it to die. This article will be updated as more information is acquired.

Neighbors have created a group called “Justice for Arrow” and are planning to take their concerns to Frankfort.

“The laws have got to be changed. Currently, you can torture or kill a dog or a cat and if you get caught at it and you’re convicted or you plead guilty, whatever the case may be, it’s a Class-A misdemeanor. No jail time. That’s on a first-offense. On top of that, there is no listing of an offender list or anyone that would hurt any dog, or cat, or torture it,” Justice for Arrow member Pamela Daniels said.

The block watch captains who created the group have asked for information in this case to be sent via text: “We are working with Metro to find the perpetrator of this crime! Thank you! Call or text Pam at 502-387-4375 or Anna at 502-614-0470.”
